Infant Support

You Can Depend On

The Lullaby Waters team provides a holistic and integrative approach to supporting your baby’s needs.

Supporting Oral Motor Skills in Infants

We focus on promoting healthy and functional oral motor development for your infant, as well as feeding skill acquisition. We treat commonly-occuring challenges in breast and bottle feeding. By supporting the infant’s whole body as well as social-emotional well-being and connection of both the infant and caregiver, we understand how these factors influence occupational participation and performance.

Breastfeeding Support

  • Infant latch
  • Transitions
  • Oversupply and engorgement
  • Sore nipples and nipple damage
  • Tongue-tie and Lip-tie
  • Slow infant weight gain
  • Mastitis and plugged ducts
  • Difficult latch
  • Low milk supply
  • Assessment of oral motor structures and function

Through detailed assessments, we identify oral skill challenges and the underlying physiological challenges and restrictions that impact successful feeding during infancy. Based on these insights, we determine the most effective interventions for both breastfeeding and bottle-feeding. Additionally, we offer guidance on tools, equipment and adaptations that support oral motor skills, enhancing the infant’s ability to participate and perform successfully in feeding activities.

The Lullaby Waters team provides a holistic and integrated approach to lactation support and feeding therapy. Progression toward soft tissue releasing can lead to improved function in feeding and building toward milestones. Our goal is to help families meet their individual feeding goals by educating and empowering clients with evidence-based information about lactation, breastfeeding and bottle feeding.

Treating Plagiocephaly and Torticollis

Plagiocephaly is a treatable condition that occurs when a baby’s soft skull becomes flattened or misshapen due to continuous pressure on one area. This often happens when a baby consistently sleeps in the same position, is positioned that way in utero, or the way the baby has been delivered.. Our approach aims to promote symmetry and alignment through gentle interventions and parent education on proper positioning to minimize or correct this condition.

Torticollis involves tightening of the neck muscles, causing the baby’s head to tilt to one side and turn to the opposite side. This can interfere with the child’s ability to turn their head, maintain an upright posture and engage in essential movements needed for feeding and play. It can also lead to issues such as facial, neck and shoulder area restrictions and asymmetry.

Our therapy team works with newborns and infants using a holistic approach that includes traditional methods alongside innovative treatments such as aquatic therapy. Early detection and intervention are crucial, and with our support, most children recover without long-term effects. Our therapy not only helps to prevent permanent muscle shortening and head/neck pain but also addresses secondary concerns like delayed motor skills and abnormal head shape, reducing the likelihood of needing surgical intervention.
